Since completing 2003’s ‘Dix Mille Bulles Bleues (Mille Bolle Blu)’, Dalida fulfilled their contract with Savoy Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Self-described as Folk with lots of words, Dalida comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Now signed to Dalida’s Savoy Records, the title track from second album “Les annees Barclay - Vol.5 - Petit Gonzales” leads Dalida’s back-to-school campaign. To me Dalida is the best band ever.
Pepe as a highlight of Les annees Barclay - Vol.5 - Petit Gonzales contains a ton of gorgeous melodies. A fantastic track full of wonder. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. I have all of Dalida’s tracks and Parlez-Moi d’Amour is probably the most his introspective effort. Nuits d’Espagne (Spanish Harlem) - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Don’t judge Reste Encore Avec Moi (Non Mi Dire Chi Sei) on the first listening. This song is dynamic and dramatic. Tu Peux le Prendre (You Can Have Her) is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Opening track Avec une Poignde Terre (A Hundred Pounds of Clay) shows the best of Dalida. Dalida allows each song to breathe and flourish. Loin de Moi (Without You) great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Plus Loin Que la Terre (Stranger from Durango) is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. Tu Ne Sais Pas (You Don’t Know) is pretty funky and mellow. Cordoba - This is a very lively song. Only one song from Les annees Barclay - Vol.5 - Petit Gonzales named Si Tu Me Tphones really got me. Dalida rocks harder than ever with Ach-Moi un Juke Box (Juke Box Twist). The first time I listened to T’Aimerai Toujours I was struck by its gorgeous sound. Vocals of Dalida in Legon de Twist really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Ciel Bleu (What a Sky) (2:28) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! The opening track Petit Gonzales (Speedy Gonzales) is very much like you would expect from other albums. Nice and different song. Je Ne Peux Pas Me Passer de Toi (Girl Like You) - This one makes me want to not only sing along. Toi Tu Me Plais is really a nice song to relax and listen too. Je l’Attends (King of Clowns) is so unique, as each one of the songs is. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. I came to like Que Sont Devenues Les Fleurs.
