There is so much to love about Leonard Cohen, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This album has some very good songs like Ain’t No Cure for Love and Take This Waltz. While no new Leonard Cohen album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 2002 tour in South America. Exciting stuff.
It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. I was truly moved when I heard First We Take Manhattan. Dance Me to the End of Love (live) is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Some of the arrangements found on Essential Leonard Cohen (cd2) are surprisingly edgy. Democracy - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Waiting for the Miracle is marvelous work of Leonard Cohen. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. Anthem is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. In My Secret Life is a striking and quite long song. This song stands out greatly from the others. A Thousand Kisses Deep is worth the money. Love Itself is such a excellent and optimistic song that things can get just better.
