It has been nine years Kirk Franklin’ last studio CD, “Rebirth Of Kirk Franklin” which won Array Academy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Since completing 2002’s ‘Intro’, Kirk Franklin fulfilled their contract with Virgin Records and where under no obligation to release another album. There is no doubt that Kirk Franklin has talent. Rebirth Of Kirk Franklin is the best essence of Kirk Franklin.
The song feels complete. Within the first few notes of Caught Up (feat. Shirley Ceasar) it’s perfectly clear that Kirk Franklin is living this song. 911 (feat. Bishop T.D. Jakes) - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Kirk Franklin. The Blood Song (feat. Donnie McClurkin, Crystal Lewis, Jaci Velasquez) (5:37) a good melody. Such hits like Brighter Day will leave you hooked. My Life, My Love, My All is another strong production from Kirk Franklin. Music and lyrics of Lookin’ Out For Me (feat. Willie Neal Johnson) creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. He Reigns (The Medley; feat. Papa San) is the astounding blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Interlude is a very catchy tune. Don’t Cry (feat. Richard Smallwood) has a fun tempo. If you are a Kirk Franklin fan, you will love The Translation. Always is the more seemingly obscure song on Rebirth Of Kirk Franklin that bear up best to repeated listening. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Rebirth Of Kirk Franklin is When I Get There. Charming song, great melody. One listen to the sheer beauty of Outro (The Blood; feat. Yolanda Adams) was all I needed. Throw Yo Hands Up is the albums biggest surprise.
