Since Las Ketchup last CD (Hijas Del Tomate) on EMI Records back in 2002, I have felt a massive void in my life. Las Ketchup’s debut, ‘Hijas Del Tomate’, does not fit easily into one genre. Lead single “The Ketchup Song (Asereje; Spanglish Version)” and “Kusha Las Payas” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Exciting stuff.
Kusha Las Payas - A classic Las Ketchup track. You can find feelings on this piece of art. Lanzame Los Trastos, Baby - a classic song. Voice of Las Ketchup in Sevillanas Pink is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. I believe The Ketchup Song (Asereje; Hippy) is one of the most astounding, heartfelt songs ever written. Krapuleo is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Las Ketchup released so far. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Me Persigue Un Chulo, which shows, blatantly, how much Las Ketchup has evolved as a singer. I loved Tengo Un Novio Tantriko the first time I heard it. The Ketchup Song (Asereje; Karaoke Version) is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Voice and instruments in The Ketchup Song (Asereje; Spanish Version) complement each other.
