Maaya Sakamoto’s debut, ‘Shounen Alice’, does not fit easily into one genre. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Maaya Sakamoto on ‘Uchuu Hikoushi no Uta’. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Maaya Sakamoto. Another great offering from Maaya Sakamoto.
First time I heard Sora wo Miro was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing. The first time I listened to Scrap~Wakare no Shi I was struck by its exquisite sound. Makiba Alice rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Kingfisher Girl (The Song of “Wish You Were Here”) is so unique, as each one of the songs is. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Call to Me - To me, this is the best song on the Shounen Alice. Hikari Are is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Chibikko Folk is almost impossible to review. A fantastic track full of wonder. The sound in 03 is really warm and Maaya Sakamoto’s signature voice is still very much present.
