After debuting at No. 1 last week, Outcast’s album The Love Below falls to No. 2 with 882,000, a sales slide of 78%. Lead single “The Love Below (Intro)” and “Love Hate Listen” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Outcast on ‘The Love Below (Intro)’. I wish that “The Love Below” album was instrumental.
Lyrics of Love Hate Listen are precise and evocative. I listened to the opening track God (Interlude) and liked it a lot. Happy Valentine’s Day (5:23) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! Spread Listen makes a person feel perfect. Where Are My Panties is one of these floating songs. Prototype is the albums biggest surprise. She Lives In My Lap (Feat. Rosario Dawson) is the more seemingly obscure song on The Love Below that bear up best to repeated listening. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Roses is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. Outcast allows each song to breathe and flourish. Blew our minds when we first heard Pink and Blue. Love In War has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Outcast’s strong vocals come to the fore. She’s Alive is nothing but pure genius. Dracula’s Wedding (Feat. Kelis) is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. Take Off Your Cool (Feat. Norah Jones) still maintains something of a specific flourish. Vibrate has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. A Life In The Day Of Benjamin Andre (Incomplete) - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. Untitled Hidden Track is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen.
