Bun B. Hear has compared writing for Outcast’s new album to that on ‘Speakerboxxx’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Speakerboxxx isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. For older fans Speakerboxxx will put a massive smile accross your face. This album is in perfect progression from Outcast!
Outcast is hitting on all cylinders in Ghetto Musick. Unhappy is a exquisite sing-along. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. The Way You Move (Feat. Sleepy Brown) is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. The Rooster is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Outcast released so far. Lyrics of Bust (Feat. Killer Mike) are precise and evocative. Strong, powerful vocals of Outcast in War are very impressive. Although Church is very melodic it is far from sad. Bamboo (Interlude) is the gorgeous blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Tomb Of The Boom (Feat. Konkrete, big Gipp and Ludacris) is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. I can’t stop humming along Flip Flop Rock (Feat. Killer Mike and Jay-Z). It took me a little time but I ended up loving Interlude. Reset (Feat. Khujo Goodie and Cee-Lo) is probably the most interesting track on Speakerboxxx. D-Boi (Interlude) has a fun tempo. Last Call (Feat. Slimm Calhoun, lil’ Jon and Mello) is the more seemingly obscure song on Speakerboxxx that bear up best to repeated listening. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Bowtie (Postlude), which shows, blatantly, how much Outcast has evolved as a singer.
