For older fans The Essential Collection 1965-1997 (Disc 2) will put a massive smile accross your face. There is so much to love about The Carpenters, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Since The Carpenters last CD (The Essential Collection 1965-1997 (Disc 2)) on Mute Records back in 2002, I have felt a massive void in my life. Oh yes, this album gets Array out of Array
Still going through The Essential Collection 1965-1997 (Disc 2) and coming to appreciate Superstar more and more with every listen. You have to get essence of the Let Me Be The One’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Bless The Beasts And The Children good vocals. Hurting Each Other is one of the best records ever. It’s Going To Take Some Time is absolutely incredible. The Carpenters emotions are reflected through I Won’t Last A Day Without You. A Song For You is marvelous song though, very addictive. Top Of The World - To me, this is the best song on the The Essential Collection 1965-1997 (Disc 2). Goodbye To Love very upbeat. This Masquerade as a highlight of The Essential Collection 1965-1997 (Disc 2) contains a ton of gorgeous melodies. After you’ve listened to Sing, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Jambalya (On The Bayou) - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Yesterday Once More is probably the highlight of the album. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. Yesterday Once More (Reprise) makes a person feel cool. Radio Contest Outtakes is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music.
