Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of The Carpenters on ‘All You Get From Me Is a Love Song’. On the Finland charts, superstar The Carpenters’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. Carpenters Collection isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
I’ve found myself listening to Back In My Life Again back to back and back many times. Because We’re In Love is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Bless The Beasts and Children is almost impossible to review. Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Carpenters Collection. Close To You is the first taste of the new album. First time I heard Desperado was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.Don’t judge For All We Know on the first listening. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Carpenters Collection is Goodbye To Love. Hurting Each Other has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Only one song from Carpenters Collection named I Won’t Last a Day Without You really got me. Music of It’s Going To Take Some Time is gentle, never overbearing. Make Believe It’s Your First Time still maintains something of a specific flourish. The Carpenters sings Only Yesterday in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. The Carpenters must have run out of lyrics on the next track Please Mister Postman. Rainy Day and Mondays is such a exquisite and optimistic song that things can get just better. This song is dynamic and dramatic. From the moment you listen to Solitaire you’re hooked. In Superstar the music gets its power. I hope to keep hearing The Carpenters works for a long time to come. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. This Masquerade is the funkiest number on the album. Those Good Old Dreams is gorgeous and different song. The opening track Ticket To Ride is very much like you would expect from other albums. Top of The World is one of the best records ever. Touch Me When We’re Dancing is really a nice song to relax and listen too. The sound of We’ve Only Just Begun is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. When I Fall In Love - The Carpenters first major hit. Voice of The Carpenters in Yesterday Once More is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant.
