For older fans Abandoned Shopping Trolley Hotline will put a massive smile accross your face. This disc has all of the essential Gomez classics. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Gomez energies, virtually a rebirth. Shitbag 9 and Bring Your Lovin’ Back Here is really good.
Bring Your Lovin’ Back Here - A catchy, upbeat tune. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Gomez. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. I’ve found myself listening to Flavors back to back and back many times. Album opener 78 Stone Shuffle is a bright, upbeat ditty. We Haven’t Turned Around (X-Ray Mix) makes a person feel perfect. From the moment you listen to Buena Vista you’re hooked. Shitbag sets the tone for the entire album. I think Steve McCroski is the best song Gomez has ever done. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Wharf Me. Still going through Abandoned Shopping Trolley Hotline and coming to appreciate High On Liquid Skin more and more with every listen. Rosemary to me is the best you can get from Gomez. Cowboy Song without a doubt is the standout song of Abandoned Shopping Trolley Hotline. Getting Better is excellent song though, very addictive.
