Blue Moon - Check out that bassline! One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Blue Moon1. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Cheek to Cheek, which shows, blatantly, how much Oscar Peterson has evolved as a singer. Come Rain Or Come Shine is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Easter Parade is simply cool. The first time I listened to Fascinating Rhythm I was struck by its gorgeous sound. I Can’t Give You Anything But is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. A unique and uplifting song. I was truly moved when I heard I Got It Bad. I Gotta Right to Sing the Blue is a great opener for The Song Is You. Album opener I Only Have Eyes for You is a bright, upbeat ditty. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. I’m in the Mood For Love is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. It Ain’t Necessarily So is another strong production from Oscar Peterson. I believe John Hardy’s Wife is one of the most excellent, heartfelt songs ever written. Just a-Sittm’ and a-Rockin’ is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. Oscar Peterson is hitting on all cylinders in Long Ago and Far Away. Love for Sale the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Lover rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. This track is clearly meant to showcase Oscar Peterson’s vocal abilities. Prelude to a Kiss is a medium tempo tune. This is one hell of a track. Tea for Two great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.That Old Black Magic is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. The Lady Is a Tramp is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. The Song Is Ended is exquisite song though, very addictive. Still going through The Song Is You and coming to appreciate The Song Is You more and more with every listen. I’ve found myself listening to What Is This Thing Called Love back to back and back many times. Without a Song was the first single release from the album The Song Is You. Within the first few notes of Yesterdays it’s perfectly clear that Oscar Peterson is living this song. In You Must Have Been a Beautiful it becomes nowhere more obvious that Oscar Peterson has yet to define own style.
