More Music from Gladiator carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Lead single “Duduk of the North” and “Now We Are Free” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This is the first studio album from Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard since bad diagnosis in 2001. Unappreciated gift to Soundtrack
Now We Are Free pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. The Protector of Rome is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Homecoming because the melody in the chorus is so good. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. The Slave who became a Gladiator is a medium tempo tune. Voice of Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard in Secrets is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Within the first few notes of Rome is the Light it’s perfectly clear that Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard is living this song. All that Remains great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Maximus is so unique, as each one of the songs is. The sound in Marrakesh Marketplace is really warm and Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard’s signature voice is still very much present. I like to sing along with The Gladiator Waltz, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Figurines - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. As always, Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Only one song from More Music from Gladiator named Busy Little Bee really got me. Death Smiles at us All is the albums biggest surprise. Not Yet to me is the best you can get from Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists.
