Since completing 2003’s ‘Scenes From An Italian Restaurant’, Various Artists fulfilled their contract with Virgin Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Various Artists was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Various Artists and Original Broadway Cast Recording - Movin’ Out together. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Various Artists energies, virtually a rebirth. This is my first Various Artists Album and i must say i am blown away.
Movin’ Out - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Reverie one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. Just The Way You Are has a fun tempo. Various Artists sings The Longest Time in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Uptown Girl is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. This Night is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. Summer, Highland Falls (2:42) - awsome. I was truly moved when I heard Waltz (No. 1). We Didn’t Start The Fire is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. She’s Got A Way is nothing but pure genius. I loved The Stranger the first time I heard it. Elegy marked the continuation of Various Artists in style evolution. Invention In C Minor - A strong beat. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. Big Shot - A nice song. Big Man On Mulberry Street as a highlight of Original Broadway Cast Recording - Movin’ Out contains a ton of amazing melodies. After about the third Captain Jack listen through, I began to believe this song is Various Artists’s essence. I can’t stop humming along An Innocent Man. Pressure hits the heart. Goodnight Saigon is one of the best records ever. Air (Dublinesque) is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Various Artists ever produced. Shameless I just LOVE this mix! This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Original Broadway Cast Recording - Movin’ Out. Overall a nice softer song. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion.
