This disc has all of the essential Propagandhi classics. two years ago, Propagandhi briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Fuck The Border”. John Digester has compared writing for Propagandhi’s new album to that on ‘Today’s Empire’s, Tomorrow’s Ashes’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. This is my first Propagandhi Album and i must say i am blown away.
Fuck The Border on Today’s Empire’s, Tomorrow’s Ashes is solid and easy to listen to. Today’s Empires, Tomorrow’s Ashes is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. Back To The Motor League is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Still going through Today’s Empire’s, Tomorrow’s Ashes and coming to appreciate Natural Disasters more and more with every listen. It took me a little time but I ended up loving With Friends Like These, Who The Fuck Needs Cointelpro?. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Propagandhi. Ordinary People Do Fucked-up Things When Fucked-up Things Become Ordinary - To me, this is the best song on the Today’s Empire’s, Tomorrow’s Ashes. Music and lyrics of Ladies’ Night In Loserville creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Ego Fum Papa (I Am The Pope) is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. Bullshit Politicians very upbeat. Although March Of The Crabs is very melodic it is far from sad. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Purina Hall Of Fame, which shows, blatantly, how much Propagandhi has evolved as a singer.
