There is so much to love about Los Tucanes de Tijuana, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This album has some very good songs like Mis Tres Animales and Temporada En La Sierra. Since Los Tucanes de Tijuana last CD (16 Corridos Lideres Vol. 1) on Savoy Records back in 2001, I have felt a massive void in my life. Los Tucanes de Tijuana “16 Corridos Lideres Vol. 1″ is an amazing album.
This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Los Tucanes de Tijuana. La Pista Secreta - Check out that bassline! You can find feelings on this piece of art. El Puco De Polvo make listening to Los Tucanes de Tijuana like being in some sort of time warp. El Borrego is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Los Tucanes de Tijuana released so far. Desatando El Morral is worth the money. Pellizcando Al Animal is outstanding work of Los Tucanes de Tijuana. El Jefe X is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Consulado Privado gives good insight into the truths. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. La Banda De La Suburban is one of my favorite songs by Los Tucanes de Tijuana. Manuel Caro Carrillo great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Frontera Roja has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. El Kiki Urias as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. El Chaca De Michoacan is the more seemingly obscure song on 16 Corridos Lideres Vol. 1 that bear up best to repeated listening.
