Elis Regina was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Elis Regina and Elis and Tom together. Elis and Tom carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Since Elis Regina last CD (Elis and Tom) on Blue Note Records back in 2000, I have felt a massive void in my life. Elis and Tom is not something you should pass up.
One listen to the sheer beauty of Inutil Paisagem was all I needed. Elis Regina is one of artists that allow his songs like Fotografia to stand on their own and be heard. Soneto Da Separacao gives taste of what makes Elis Regina special as a musician. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Some of the arrangements found on Elis and Tom are surprisingly edgy. O Que Tinha De Ser is outstanding work of Elis Regina. No Elis Regina song has come close to capturing my attention as Retrato Em Branco E Preto did. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Corcovado - A nice song. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. I like to sing along with Aguas De Marco, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Elis Regina breathes new life into the music in Pois E. So Tinha De Ser Com Voce is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about.
