There is so much to love about Elis Regina, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Lead single “Como Nossos Pais” and “Travessia” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Ao Vivo carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. This is one of Elis Regina best albums
Travessia is the albums biggest surprise. Once you hear Morro Velho, you will listen to it over and over. The song feels complete. In Dama Do Apocalipse Elis Regina spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Elis Regina emotions are reflected through Colagem. I came to like Madalena. Elis Regina has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Cadeira Vazia is another strong production from Elis Regina. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. Triste make listening to Elis Regina like being in some sort of time warp. Dois Pra lDois Pra C which is my favorite is a truly Elis Regina sounding song. O Mestre Sala Dos Mares is worth the money. Transversal Do Tempo actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Elis Regina’s face. The first time I listened to Cartomante I was struck by its amazing sound.
