On Unknown Soldier album, Warmen have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Unknown Soldier carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Lead single “Introduction” and “The Evil That Warmen Do” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. Devil’s Mistress is another strong production from Warmen. Hopeless Optimism stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. I like the idea behind Unknown Soldier. Once Fire Within gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. Warcry Of Salieri is possibly the best song Warmen has come up. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. Piano Intro To makes a person feel amazing. The sound of Treasure Within is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. I loved Soldiers Of Fortune the first time I heard it.
