This disc has all of the essential Prefuse 73 classics. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Prefuse 73’s album Vocal Studies, Uprock… falls to No. 2 with 731,000, a sales slide of 86%. Self-described as Rap: Hip-Hop with lots of words, Prefuse 73 comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. This album is a scorcher!
|titile| is the kind of record that makes you remember why music can be so addictive. Life-Death is absolutely incredible. Listening to Smile in Your Face you can hear that Prefuse 73 has still amazing chemistry with band members. Point to B - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Five Minutes Away is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Living Life (w/Rec Center) is a strong cut, one of many. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. Prefuse 73 is hitting on all cylinders in Last Light (w/Sam Prekop). Vocal Studies, Uprock… couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Cliche Intro. Back in Time is really the reason why I recommend buying Vocal Studies, Uprock…. As always, Prefuse 73’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Black List is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Get Vocal Studies, Uprock… and turn on Untitled if you are going to sip your wine late at night. Afternoon Love-In - arguably the best track on Vocal Studies, Uprock… album. 7th Message rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo.
