This album has some very good songs like I Want To Go and Congo Square. Lead single “I Want To Go” and “Congo Square” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. A Sense of Place carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Check it every song is worth the money for the A Sense of Place CD!
One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Congo Square. Send Me Down To Vicksburg hits the heart. Without Her - another great track from the A Sense of Place album. If you are a John Mayall fan, you will love Sensitive Kind. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on A Sense of Place. This is one hell of a track. I Can’t Complain is simple, dignified and effective, John Mayall refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Black Cat Moan rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Sugarcane - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of John Mayall. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit.
