On Punk Jazz: The Jaco Pastorius Anthology (cd2) album, Jaco Pastorius have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. This is the first studio album from Jaco Pastorius since bad diagnosis in 2003. This fourteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Jaco Pastorius has. To me Jaco Pastorius is the best band ever.
Once Mood Swings gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. It’s a great pleasure to listen to Okonkole; Y Trompa (Live, 1982) from the beginning to the end. Amerika (Live, 1982) is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Soul Intro./The Chicken (Live, 1982) has a fun tempo. Music and lyrics of Invitation (Live, 1982) creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Good Morning Anya is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. John And Mary without a doubt is the standout song of Punk Jazz: The Jaco Pastorius Anthology (cd2). Listening to Word Of Mouth you can hear that Jaco Pastorius has still amazing chemistry with band members. Blackbird - Check out that bassline! Chromatic Fantasy good vocals. This is one hell of a track. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song.
