It has been sixteen years Harem’ last studio CD, “Rhythm Colour, Turkish Percussion Group” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Rhythm Colour, Turkish Percussion Group isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Since completing 2000’s ‘Darbuka Solo 1 - Yasar Akpense’, Harem fulfilled their contract with Mute Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This is my first Harem Album and i must say i am blown away.
Still going through Rhythm Colour, Turkish Percussion Group and coming to appreciate Hint more and more with every listen. Voice and instruments in Darbuka Solo 1 - Benyamin Olguncan complement each other. Vasil is one of the more up-tempo songs on Rhythm Colour, Turkish Percussion Group. All of songs on Rhythm Colour, Turkish Percussion Group and have something to say letting alone Tabla Solo - Tarik El Zebeyr. Varda without a doubt is the standout song of Rhythm Colour, Turkish Percussion Group. Don’t judge Darbuka Solo 2 - Yasar Akpense on the first listening. Siki Siki Baba is a strong cut, one of many. Harem allows each song to breathe and flourish. A great put together song. I now have Darbuka Solo 2 - Benyamin Olguncan as one of my personal favorites. Music in Armut Araci is gorgeous as in all tracks of Rhythm Colour, Turkish Percussion Group.
