After debuting at No. 1 last week, Aenima’s album Sentient falls to No. 2 with 577,000, a sales slide of 94%. Lead single “Lilith (Reprise)” and “Shelter For A Lesser God” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. ‘Sentient’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Aenima “Sentient” is an amazing album.
In Shelter For A Lesser God full palet of sound is used by Aenima to accentuate the presentation. Silently Here - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. The song feels complete. In Pale the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. Dusk stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Rites Of Passage - A catchy, upbeat tune. Lighthouse defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Morningrise is so unique, as each one of the songs is. The Soil Stained Black - To me, this is the best song on the Sentient. Lyrics of Eclipse are precise and evocative. Song To A Moonlit Mermaid is one of the coolest songs Aenima has ever recorded.
