While no new Ibrahim Ferrer album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 2003 tour in Africa. one years ago, Ibrahim Ferrer briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Boliviana”. This disc has all of the essential Ibrahim Ferrer classics. One of Ibrahim Ferrer’s best albums yet.
Boliviana (3:50) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. No Tiene Telerana is a gorgeous sing-along. Nice and different song. Ibrahim Ferrer sings Hay que Entrarle a Palos a Ese in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Mil Congojas on Buenos Hermanos is solid and easy to listen to. The song Perfume de Gardenias ending is my favorite… so catchy! Buenos Hermanos couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Naufragio. Como el Arrullo de Palma - I like this one. La Musica Cubana stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Buenos Hermanos. Music and lyrics of Buenos Hermanos creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Boquinene is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Ibrahim Ferrer ever produced.
