Clan Of Xymox’s debut, ‘Remixes from the Underground, CD1′, does not fit easily into one genre. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Clan Of Xymox energies, virtually a rebirth. Remixes from the Underground, CD1 isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. This is my first Clan Of Xymox Album and i must say i am blown away.
Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Into Her Web (Remix by Sophya, Idan K.) is my favorite song on Remixes from the Underground, CD1. I like Liberty (Damon Fries - Boudoir Mix) because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. At Your Mercy (In Strict Confidence Remix) actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Clan Of Xymox’s face. I like the idea behind The Same Dream (DJ RAM Nightmare Mix). This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Once you hear Innocent (Defiled Remix by Assemblage 23), you will listen to it over and over. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. Somethings Wrong (Avatar Mix by Angels & Agony) can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Clan Of Xymox is all about. In Anquish (Deep Inside Iris Mix by Iris) the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation.
