Since completing 2000’s ‘Innocent’, Clan Of Xymox fulfilled their contract with Mute Records and where under no obligation to release another album. I am not a real Gothic music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Notes Form The Underground’ really is amazing. Since Clan Of Xymox last CD (Notes Form The Underground) on Mute Records back in 2000, I have felt a massive void in my life. This album is awesome.
I Want You Now great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool. Some call Internal Darkness from Notes Form The Underground as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Music and lyrics of At Your Mercy creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. The sound of Anguish is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Voice of Clan Of Xymox in Number One is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. After about the third Into Her Web listen through, I began to believe this song is Clan Of Xymox’s essence. Notes Form The Underground couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track The Bitter Sweet. When I listen to Liberty in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Clan Of Xymox must have run out of lyrics on the next track Something Wrong. Mysterium is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. The Same Dream is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Clan Of Xymox released so far.
