Since Almafuerte last CD (Ultimando) on Mute Records back in 2003, I have felt a massive void in my life. Self-described as Latin with lots of words, Almafuerte comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. ‘Ultimando’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. This is my first Almafuerte Album and i must say i am blown away.
Ultranza presents the marvelous mix of instruments on Ultimando. I think Todo es en vano, si no hay amor is the best song Almafuerte has ever done. I have all of Almafuerte’s tracks and Con rumbo al abra is probably the most his introspective effort. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Vocals of Almafuerte in En este viaje really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Yo traigo la semilla good vocals. Voice and instruments in T.C. complement each other. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Almafuerte. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music.
