Since Viikate last CD (Surut Pois Ja Kukka Rintaan) on SixSteps records back in 2003, I have felt a massive void in my life. When you buy a Viikate album, you know exactly what you’re getting! This eleven-song debut EP shows the promise that Viikate has. Smart music for smart people.
One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Otteita Syksystd. After few listenings I started to like Rauta-Airot more and more. Music in Kuolleen Miehen Kupletti is astounding as in all tracks of Surut Pois Ja Kukka Rintaan. Kurjat Kurjet is marvelous song though, very addictive. Such hits like Piispa Ja Mind will leave you hooked. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. After you’ve listened to Kaunis Kotkan Kdsi, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Although Kivi Itkee Vihredd is very melodic it is far from sad.
