Since Vesna last CD (Vesna) on ForeFront Records back in 2001, I have felt a massive void in my life. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Vesna’s album Vesna falls to No. 2 with 892,000, a sales slide of 63%. On Vesna album, Vesna have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. I love this album so much, i’ve been crazy about Vesna ever.
Music and lyrics of Leukom creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Hape end is such a gorgeous and optimistic song that things can get just better. The opening track Planet is very much like you would expect from other albums. The first time I listened to Pautina I was struck by its cool sound. If you are a Vesna fan, you will love Futura. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Side b:, which shows, blatantly, how much Vesna has evolved as a singer. The sound in Utro (tribute to DM) is really warm and Vesna’s signature voice is still very much present. Voice of Vesna in Titled’ is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Luch is the funkiest number on the album. Hape nuea actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Vesna’s face. Plush is really a nice song to relax and listen too. A unique and uplifting song. Untitled is the album’s biggest hit, I think.
