There is so much to love about Trollech, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. It has been three years Trollech’ last studio CD, “Ve Hvozdech” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Trollech energies, virtually a rebirth. Trollech is one of my favourite bands of all time.
This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Zatrollene Hvozdy is my favorite song on Ve Hvozdech. Cauda Draconis is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Jajemstvi Hlubin Lesa is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. I now have Od Kolebky Po Rakev as one of my personal favorites. Opet Vidim Lode is simple, dignified and effective, Trollech refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. I loved Ve Hvozdech the first time I heard it. I can’t stop playing Podzimni Cesta Stareho Vlka. Palindrom rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. No Trollech song has come close to capturing my attention as Hrde Proti Bilemu Kristu did.
