Self-described as Jazz with lots of words, Thelonious Monk comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Thelonious Monk energies, virtually a rebirth. There is so much to love about Thelonious Monk, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This album is a scorcher!
Much Too Much is a fine track on any terms. I was truly moved when I heard Suddenly. This is probably my favorite song on the album. A unique and uplifting song. Just What I Needed is the funkiest number on the album. Let Me Show You (I Just Want To Make You Smile) is the more seemingly obscure song on Suddenly that bear up best to repeated listening. The song feels complete. Could It Be You one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard.
