This fourteen-song debut EP shows the promise that The Wrens has. This is one of the best Cd’s The Wrens has dropped to date. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of The Wrens energies, virtually a rebirth. Such great and happy songs.
Happy is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. Music and lyrics of She Sends Kisses creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. This Boy Is Exhausted is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. Hopeless motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. Thirteen Grand is probably one of The Wrens’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Boys, You Won’t is another favourite of mine. Nice and different song. Per Second Second - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. This Is Not What You Had Planned has a beautifully haunting disco flavor.
