This album has some very good songs like All In A Day’s Work and Saturday Morning. Shootenanny! isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. On Shootenanny! album, The Eels have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. This is what good Indie should be.
Saturday Morning - My least favorite song on this album. In The Good Old Days The Eels is at his best. Love Of The Loveless is pretty funky and mellow. Best song on the album, love it. Agony is the more seemingly obscure song on Shootenanny! that bear up best to repeated listening. Rock Hard Times have really caught my ear and imagination. Restraining Order Blues rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Once you hear Lone Wolf, you will listen to it over and over. Wrong About Bobby - A classic The Eels track. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. Fashion Awards (3:09) - awsome. This song may be the most meaningful.
