Since Shelter last CD (When 20 Summer Pass) on Blue Note Records back in 2000, I have felt a massive void in my life. There is no doubt that Shelter has talent. On the Spain charts, superstar Shelter’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. I wish that “When 20 Summer Pass” album was instrumental.
This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Shelter. Song Of Brahma - A classic Shelter track. Don’t Walk Away is such a cool and optimistic song that things can get just better. Public Eye is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. If There’s Only Today - A strong beat. Loss Disguised As Gain is probably the highlight of the album. Spirits Blinded is perfect. Crushing Some One You Love is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Although Killer Of My Dreams is very melodic it is far from sad. I Can’t Change History is probably the most interesting track on When 20 Summer Pass. Yes I Can is a exquisite, simple song by Shelter at the top of his game. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on When 20 Summer Pass.
