It has been one years Oceania’ last studio CD, “Oceania” which won Array MTV Music Awards and was nominated for album of the year. There is no doubt that Oceania has talent. This is the first studio album from Oceania since bad diagnosis in 2002. I wish that “Oceania” album was instrumental.
Kotahitanga (Union) is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Oceania released so far. I find myself hearing bits of Hautoa (Warrior) here and there throughout my waking hours. You have to get essence of the Hineraukatauri (Goddess of Music)’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Album opener He Tangata (People) is a bright, upbeat ditty. I have all of Oceania’s tracks and Kihikihi (Cicada) is probably the most his introspective effort. Haera Ra (Farewell) is really a nice song to relax and listen too. Pepepe (The Moth) is a astounding sing-along. Oceania offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Hautoa (Warrior) - Beatmasters 7′ Mix is a striking and quite long song. This song stands out greatly from the others.
