After debuting at No. 1 last week, Mortiis’s album The Smell Of Rain falls to No. 2 with 275,000, a sales slide of 98%. Self-described as Electronic with lots of words, Mortiis comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Mortiis was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Mortiis and The Smell Of Rain together. IT makes me wanna dance!
I find myself hearing bits of Mental Maelstrom here and there throughout my waking hours. Spirit In A Vacuum as a highlight of The Smell Of Rain contains a ton of perfect melodies. I have all of Mortiis’s tracks and Monolith is probably the most his introspective effort. You Put A Hex On Me is the exquisite blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. It’s such an underrated song. Marshland is the more seemingly obscure song on The Smell Of Rain that bear up best to repeated listening. In Antimental you won’t find any flashy solos. Smell The Witch without a doubt is the standout song of The Smell Of Rain.
