Since Melechesh last CD (Sphynx) on Blue Note Records back in 2003, I have felt a massive void in my life. While no new Melechesh album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 2003 tour in Europe. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Melechesh energies, virtually a rebirth. Sphynx is the best essence of Melechesh.
Secrets Of Sumerian Sphynxology is absolutely incredible. Such hits like Annunaki’s Golden Thrones will leave you hooked. Apkallu Counsel is a bit of a show-tune. As always, Melechesh’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Melechesh is one of artists that allow his songs like Triangular Tattvie Fire to stand on their own and be heard. The Arrival Ritual is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. Incendium Between Mirage and Time - A strong beat. Purifier Of The Stars motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. This track is just fantastic from start to finish.
