Kurt Elling is one of artists that allow his songs like Detour Ahead to stand on their own and be heard. You Don’t Know What Love Is is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. In Orange Blossoms In Summertime you won’t find any flashy solos. After you’ve listened to Not While I’m Around, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Easy Living has a fun tempo. Lil’ Darlin’ is a very catchy tune. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Kurt Elling. Blame It On My Youth is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is I’m Thru With Love because the melody in the chorus is so good. Say It sets the tone for the entire album. While You Are Mine - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. Excellent vocals and musical performances.
