Kid Koala’s debut, ‘Some of My Best Friends Are DJ’s’, does not fit easily into one genre. IF YOU LIKE ALL Kid Koala’S SONG GO FOR IT! Since Kid Koala last CD (Some of My Best Friends Are DJ’s) on EMI Records back in 2003, I have felt a massive void in my life. Smart music for smart people.
Basin Street Blues is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Simple and heartfelt closing track Radio Nufonia closes Some of My Best Friends Are DJ’s on a high note. Still going through Some of My Best Friends Are DJ’s and coming to appreciate Stompin’ at le Savoi more and more with every listen. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Grandmaphone Speaks - This one is lively and fun. Skanky Panky is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. Flu Season is a very catchy tune. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. In Elevator Hopper the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. Within the first few notes of On the Set of Fender Bender it’s perfectly clear that Kid Koala is living this song. More Dance Music is beautiful, yet underrated track. Vacation Island is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Kid Koala released so far. Kid Koala breathes new life into the music in Negatron Speaks.
