There is so much to love about John Zorn, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. After seeing Merkabah [Vocal Version], I had to have a good John Zorn cd. John Zorn’s debut, ‘Filmworks 14: Hiding and Seeking’, does not fit easily into one genre. I love this album so much, i’ve been crazy about John Zorn ever.
Sekhel is the albums biggest surprise. Zhakor [Vocal Version] - I like this one. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Filmworks 14: Hiding and Seeking. I came to like Abulafia [Vocal Version]. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Filmworks 14: Hiding and Seeking. You can find feelings on this piece of art. Zhakor is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. I hope to keep hearing John Zorn works for a long time to come. Adamah is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything John Zorn released so far. Merkabah is really the reason why I recommend buying Filmworks 14: Hiding and Seeking.
