When you buy a Jimmy Thackery album, you know exactly what you’re getting! Since completing 2002’s ‘Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat’, Jimmy Thackery fulfilled their contract with SixSteps records and where under no obligation to release another album. ‘Whiskey Store’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. If I may, I suggest “Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat”. That one song is amazing!
When I listen to Nice and Warm in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Jimmy Thackery has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Freddy’s Combo one is one of the better boring ones. Lyrics of Whiskey Store are precise and evocative. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Whiskey Store. Away, Away Too Long - For me, this is the best of the album. Bad Luck Blues was the first single release from the album Whiskey Store. Bone Pickin’ - This one is lively and fun. I Ain’t Broke - A classic Jimmy Thackery track.
