I am not a real Folk music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Compendium 1994-2000′ really is amazing. This disc has all of the essential In Gowan Ring classics. In Gowan Ring’s debut, ‘Compendium 1994-2000′, does not fit easily into one genre. Enjoy the show.
To Thrum A Glassy Stem - This one makes me want to not only sing along. This track is full of harmonies and gets Compendium 1994-2000 off to a relaxing start. Twin Trees - arguably the best track on Compendium 1994-2000 album. By Moss Strand and Waterspathe is worth the money. A Swan Song on Compendium 1994-2000 is solid and easy to listen to. Blew our minds when we first heard Dandelion Wine. Urn and Dreambox is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Compendium 1994-2000 have ended. Sea Ritual is the albums biggest surprise. I like to sing along with 15 Men On The Deadman’s Chest, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. The Black One had me crying as I was able to relate so well. The Once True Love rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. Within the first few notes of A Lullaby Ere Closed Eyes it’s perfectly clear that In Gowan Ring is living this song. Naptime Cometh - To me, this is the best song on the Compendium 1994-2000. A Litany To Lethargy is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Compendium 1994-2000. I find myself hearing bits of Onward - Napland Is At Hand here and there throughout my waking hours. In Gowan Ring offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself.
