After seeing Blue And Sentimental, I had to have a good Illinois Jacquet cd. There were many famous songs of Illinois Jacquet available. Self-described as Jazz with lots of words, Illinois Jacquet comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. This album is awesome.
After you’ve listened to Blue Skies, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Blues For New Orleans - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. This song may be the most meaningful. Opening track It Don’t Mean A Thing shows the best of Illinois Jacquet. Misty is absolutely incredible. No Sweat has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Illinois Jacquet offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. The Man I Love is the albums biggest surprise.
