On Late for the Future album, Galactic have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Galactic’s album Late for the Future falls to No. 2 with 581,000, a sales slide of 54%. Since completing 2000’s ‘Black-Eyed Pea’, Galactic fulfilled their contract with Virgin Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Great Acid Jazz right here!
Baker’s Dozen is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. Thrill is a fine track on any terms. Album opener Century City is a bright, upbeat ditty. Jeffe 2000 is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Doublewide is marvelous song though, very addictive. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Running Man. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Late for the Future. As Big As Your Face - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. Galactic sings Hit The Wall in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Action Speaks Louder Than Words - I like this one. Bobski 2000 is a medium tempo tune. Lyrics of Two Clowns are precise and evocative. |titile| is the kind of record that makes you remember why music can be so addictive.
