fourteen years ago, Fingathing briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Check It Out”. There is so much to love about Fingathing, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Since Fingathing last CD (The Main Event) on ForeFront Records back in 2000, I have felt a massive void in my life. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
Check It Out - For me, this is the best of the album. Big Monsters Crush Cities - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Fingathing. So much energy, so exciting a sound. The opening track Head to Head is very much like you would expect from other albums. How to Smoke marked the continuation of Fingathing in style evolution. Slappy’s Tune has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. You can find feelings on this piece of art. As always, Fingathing’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Remember This? is the first taste of the new album. You Fly Me is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. Flathead is probably the highlight of the album. Slippin’ is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after The Main Event have ended. Music and lyrics of Light Refreshment creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Crowdpleasers was the first single release from the album The Main Event. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Final Bout rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo.
