one years ago, Cecil Taylor briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Crossing (Fourth Movement) (Part One)”. Since completing 2000’s ‘Abyss (First Movement)/Petals & Filaments (Second Movement)/Jitney (Third Movement)’, Cecil Taylor fulfilled their contract with EMI Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Cecil Taylor was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Cecil Taylor and Silent Tongues together. I love this album so much, i’ve been crazy about Cecil Taylor ever.
Only one song from Silent Tongues named Crossing (Fourth Movement) (Part One) really got me. Crossing (Fourth Movement) (Part Two) - I like this one. After All (Fifth Movement) one of the best in my collection. I can’t stop humming along Jitney No.2. After All No.2 is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done.
