fifteen years ago, Angela Gheorghiu briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Popescu-Branesti–Preiveghiati si va rugati”. I am not a real Classical music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Mysterium - Sacred Arias’ really is amazing. ‘Mysterium - Sacred Arias’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. IF you love Angela Gheorghiu, ‘Mysterium - Sacred Arias’ Mp3’s is the best!
Popescu-Branesti–Preiveghiati si va rugati stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Cucu–Catavasiile intampanarii Domnului is outstanding work of Angela Gheorghiu. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. Adam–O Holy Night - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. The sound of Schubert–Mille cherubini in coro is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Fauri–Pie Jesu from Requiem is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Brahms–Wiegenlied, Op.49 No.4 is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Angela Gheorghiu emotions are reflected through Mendelssohn–Auf Flgein des G. Puccini–Salve regina hits the heart. Mascagni–Ave Maria is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. I think NiedermeyerPieta, Signore is the best song Angela Gheorghiu has ever done. From the moment you listen to Bach–Quia respexit from Magnificat you’re hooked. Schubert–Ave Maria from Ellens Gesang III, D 389, Op.52 No.6 to me is the best you can get from Angela Gheorghiu. Within the first few notes of Wade–Adeste Fideles it’s perfectly clear that Angela Gheorghiu is living this song.
